Easter greetings to all our supporters and friends
Any visitor to Sitima, who attends Mass at the prison, talks about the emotional impact it has on them. This prison caters for young men in the 18 - 25 year age band, the majority of whom have been imprisoned for theft, maybe of a goat or a bicyle. Sentences are stiff, usually for 3 - 5 years and daily life is difficult, working in the fields under the blazing sun and existing on one meal of bean stew, a day.
Network for a Better World offers ongoing support to these young men, with the regular sharing of soaps and foodstuffs. A couple of years back we set up a tailoring workshop, helping some of the young men to leave prison with a trade.
Fr Owen and Fr Innocent alternate in celebrating a monthly Mass and it is indeed an honour to be there and to share that spiriual experience with them all.

What do volunteers do?
This is a question we are often asked when individuals make an initial enquiry about undertaking a volunteering period in Sitima.
