International themes
October is an interesting month for us as two international themes which are celebrated during the month have a bearing on some of what we do.
A new piece of work for N4BW has recently been launched to coincide with two international themes that are remembered in October.
Prisoners week aims to encourage awareness of the needs of prisoners and their families whilst International Day of the Girl focuses attention on the need to address the challenges girls face and to promote girls’ empowerment
Mikuyu Prison in Malawi has just opened a wing for young women and N4BW is proud to help in any way it can largely through education and health support.
Our first initiative has been to attend to a very basic need in providing footwear for all the imprisoned women at Mikuyu. Our second, combining health and education is to issue each of the women with a reusable sanitary pack along with teaching on managing their lives safely. Our special thanks go to the Arnside Chapter of “Days for Girls” for creating and supplying the kits for the young women
