
What do volunteers do?
This is a question we are often asked when individuals make an initial enquiry about undertaking a volunteering period in Sitima. In reply we turn the question around and ask “What is it that you can do? In this rural part of Malawi, there are very few services and resources are exceptionally limited so when a volunteer brings their own unique enthusiasm and skill, maybe in sport, craft, gardening or entrepreneurship there are always willing locals wanting to get involved.
Here in UK we also have a merry band of volunteers who compile newsletters, give presentations to church and community groups as well as those who steer the charity through serving as a trustee.
All prospective volunteers irrespective of the role they are interested in, are interviewed and undertake a DBS check
