Network for a Better World was founded in 2012 by a group of twelve returned volunteers who decided from their experience of working in Africa that N4BW would offer the hand of friendship and a promise of partnership to some of the most marginalised people in our world today. We are currently based in the UK, and work overseas in Malawi to help fight poverty.

N4BW aims to be an instrument of peace and progress in a divided world.

Sitima, near Zomba in Malawi We identified this rural area of Southern Malawi. There was only limited input by larger agencies and governmental funders and the mainly subsistence faarmers were struggling to make a living after two seasons of drought. At this sort of grass roots level, our modest investment of time, energy and money could have a better chance of truly helping those that need it.

2020 has been a most difficult time for so many. In addition to Covid-19 issues our friends in Malawi continue to suffer and fight against illnesses sometimes brought about through insects and unclean water, yet often made worse by a poor diet.

We were delighted to recently receive this photo showing how our Christmas donation to Mikuyu Prison has been spent. On Christmas Day the young men tucked into a hearty goat stew instead of their normal daily dish of maize porridge2020 has been a most difficult time for so many. Aftermath of Cyclone Freddy

Where do we start to describe the impact of this recent tropical storm. Our national press has spoken of the loss of lives, businesses and homes but it really does hit home when so many of us have visited the area and got to know many people living there.

Our thanks to Fr Bernard

The aftermath of Cyclone Freddy saw many people homeless and very quickly Fr Bernard of Sitima Parish leapt into action using funds from N4BW and other donors to rebuild houses for the elderly and vulnerable.
