
Food in Malawi
Wherever you travel you will see women selling produce at the side of the road, sometimes tomatoes, cabbages or cucumbers they have grown and other times, freshly made goodies. Here we give the recipe for delicious Malawian Doughnuts otherwise known as Mandasi
Ingredients
- 8oz ( 225 grams) plain flour
- Pinch of salt
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 2oz (56 grams) sugar
- 1 beaten egg
- 200mls (7 fl oz) milk or water
- Oil for frying
Instructions
1. Mix the flour, salt, baking power in a bowl
2. Add the sugar, egg and the milk or water. Beat until smooth
3. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into hot oil and fry until golden brown, turning once.
4. Drain and enjoy with tea or a soft drink
