Volunteer House

The house was funded by n4bw and built by the local people to house a maximum of 8 volunteers. The house is enclosed and private from the local community as well as being very close to them. It is built within the grounds of the De Montfort Fathers’ Mission, with their Community House a few metres away.

In the house there is a fully equipped kitchen with fridge and cooker; a living area with a dining/work table and chairs and a settee. There are four bedrooms all with shower and toilet en suite. The water is rain water and as it is solar heated, is warmer at the end of the day than the beginning! The house is now provided with electricity by solar power panels on the roof. Each of the beds has a mosquito net and there is a fan in each room.

There is also a small meeting room with an outside door for the community to access for meetings etc.

One of the bedrooms (storing maize for the community at a time of drought).
