For the last couple of years, literacy lessons have been delivered by local volunteers to women in the community, most of whom have never attended school at all. All participants are now able to read and write yet they have shown a willingness to continue to learn and have recently received education in numeracy.
On a recent visit by UK volunteers an additional skill was offered to the ladies and the photo shows them proudly wearing the blouses they have stitched by hand. They are delighted to all be wearing their “school uniform”
In February, the plans are for the ladies to learn how to knit hats, in preparation for the cold season in June
